Marley's owner came into my office early on Dec 3rd, she got shot and help is needed. I first stumbled to picture Marley, cause of her age I always called her grandma or mama. Her tall slender body, aged gracefully to probably 11 years was quite a sight. Whenever she came over for breakfast or just to say 'Hi' her tail was wagging, but since she didn't had the strength or muscles anymore to hold the rest straight, her whole body was wagging with her tail, or the other way around. She is a joy! Always laying down while eating, you could tell she had better years, but that did not keep her from defending her food or lifting her head to snatch some loving while munching.
I contacted one of the Hardin Rescues right away since I was aware that they had history, but they weren't able to help. So I printed an application out for Johnna from Inside Voice in Sheridan, WY and told her to fill out and bring back. She sent me later the picture from the wounds and it almost looked like it went straight through underneath the spine.

She was breathing alright and walking, even tho limping, but walking. In the afternoon Johnna came back with the application and despite the pain Marley followed her all the way. It was heartbreaking to see how she still was happy being around us, her wound started to bleed again while she was sitting there. I handed Johnna dogfood and some woundspray ( ridicoulos, but all I had to offer in this moment of feeling totally helpless ) and asked her to keep her warm and that I would immediately submit the paperwork which I did a little later in the evening.
The next morning we touched base and Marley was still with us. So I called Inside Voice and was glad to hear that they just had informed the Vet in Hardin and made all arrangements for Marley to come in and get help. So I called Johnna and off they went. It was a long day not hearing anything until in the afternoon the good news came in.
Marley had XRays done, nothing major was hurt, there was an infection, she had surgery and would spent the night. Later we heard she might spent a couple more days to make sure the antibiotics will kick in, but that she will be okay!
This made my day and I was so reliefed. Marley was given to Johnna by her brother which had passed a few months ago and she is certainly the oldest on our corner. Her face has the aura like the female version of the 'Godfather'. Nevertheless, I am certain that a thousand Angels must have had her back to protect her this time and I can't wait for her to come home to Johnna and Lodge Grass.
The biggest shoutout and 'Thank you' to Tammy and Mona from Inside Voice, WY
for your support. We are so grateful!
Please consider a donation for their wonderful organization, it will help us all down the Good Luck Road!
