You know his face from the starting page. He was my sidekick for many months. The day before Christmas he came in, laid down and I knew he was in pain, abdominal pain. For me the worst time of the year as a postal worker, no time off, I couldn't get him to the vet.
There was no help from within either other than comments 'that sucks'.
He didn't eat, was whining and cramping. I kept him contained inside over night to give him rest, made him a bed, food and water and endless worries was all I could offer at that moment.
The next morning when I came in he had vomited yellow green fluid and he seemed a little better.
I brought him some chicken, but just one little piece made him throw up again a tremendous amount of that green stuff. He laid down afterwards and cramped again.
I sat with him as much as I could at a busy day and later he wanted out. He walked over onto the grass and to poo and there was a lot of fluid as well coming out. He walked to the lawn corner and laid down in the grass. It was a while later when I checked on him. He was standing there as if he waited for me to open the door again.
He started walking away through the fence and at the corner before disappearing he stopped and looked back, it was a long look. We looked at each other for minutes, and it was the last time we did that.
He never came back.
For me this was also the end of my relationship to our former board members.
